The car from the film - without the magical wings, but with the most dreadful 'Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang' soundtrack that could be switched on to stimulate memories!
Not quite a Reventon but a huge engine. 7.5 litres of Bentley straight 6 engine and coach built bodywork. Get that cobra snake parp-parp horn! (Saw a documentary about Rolls Royce cars in India and in fact the cobra horn was a standard feature of Rolls & Bentleys)
Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang was a children's book written by Ian Fleming, author of James Bond books in 1964 while recovering in hospital from a heart attack. It was made up of bedtime stories he used to tell his son Caspar. The car had magical properties and could fly.
Number plate 'GEN 11' was Fleming's (genii, plural of genius). Enormous copper exhaust is a fake one though.
It was loosely adapted to a screenplay by Roald Dahl and made into a film in 1968.
Great to sit in it for a few minutes when it turned up at Headfort House, Kells, Co. Meath, Ireland, whilst working on the Eating Parlour restoration.
